Applications Engineer – Instrumentation Industry - Coventry
A leading innovator in the instrumentation sector is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join its skilled technical team. The company designs and manufactures precision equipment used across global industries, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and performance.
Location: Coventry (with overseas travel)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 4:00pm; Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong expertise in CNC programming and machine setup (3–5 axis, Siemens controls preferred). You’ll play a key part in developing, testing, and optimising manufacturing processes, supporting both internal teams and global customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and modify CNC programs (primarily Siemens 840).
• Machine, grind, and inspect precision components to specification.
• Optimise machining cycles and implement process improvements.
• Conduct full functional testing of machines before customer delivery.
• Prepare and install equipment at customer sites worldwide.
• Deliver operator and maintenance training to customers.
• Provide ongoing technical support and input to product development.
• Assist the sales team with technical insights, tooling, and time studies.

You are a motivated and adaptable engineer with strong communication skills and a passion for precision manufacturing. You take a structured, safety-conscious approach to your work and thrive in customer-facing situations.
Requirements
• Proven experience in CNC programming and setting (Siemens preferred).
• Background in grinding or high-precision machining (threads, worms, gears advantageous).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Willingness to travel internationally for installation and training.
• Competent in MS Office and report preparation.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical drawings (advantageous).
