Buyer
Location: Portsmouth (Hybrid)

My client, a specialist engineering organisation operating within the maritime and defence sector, is looking for a Buyer to join its procurement team. This role will focus on sourcing materials, components, and services while building strong supplier relationships and supporting business-wide procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Purchase goods, materials, and services to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules
• Raise purchase orders and manage procurement documentation
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues
• Support supplier audits and performance reviews
• Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement across purchasing processes
Requirements
• Experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Understanding of UK contract law and procurement regulations
• Experience using ERP systems and procurement software
• Strong Microsoft Excel and administrative skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• SAP experience and CIPS qualifications advantageous
