Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £45k-£55k  dependent on experience

About The Role:
Platform Recruitment has partnered with a specialist product development company that designs and manufactures precision electro-mechanical instruments and is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead new product development and product improvement projects. You’ll work across concept generation, detailed design, prototyping, testing and preparing products for manufacture, collaborating closely with engineers, suppliers and technical partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop products from early-stage concepts to production
• Lead all NPD 
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and drawings
• Plan and run experiments, analyse data and report findings
• Integrate mechanical and electronic components
• Prepare documentation including BOMs, production packs and test procedures
• Project management 

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• Experienced in taking products from concept to manufacture
• Background in developing electro-mechanical products and instruments
• Strong CAD skills
• Hands-on approach to prototyping and testing
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
