Overview

A well-established UK-based engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing R&D team. This is a newly created position driven by continued expansion, offering the opportunity to work on innovative products used across global markets.

The company specialises in industrial equipment and engineered solutions that improve productivity and quality across a range of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, and emerging technologies such as EV battery manufacturing.

The Role

Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of both new and existing products. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver projects from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and development of new products and enhancement of existing designs
  • Hands-on build and testing of prototypes throughout the development cycle
  • Analyse and document test results, including recommendations for next steps
  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet project objectives

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Product Design or similar)
  • Experience in product development from concept through to production
  • Exposure to R&D environments (preferred)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor or similar)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and conduct product testing
  • Strong organisational, communication, and project management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
