About the Role

An established Scientific Instrumentation Manufacturer based in Oxfordshire is seeking an Optical Design Engineer to join their growing R&D team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in optical design and development to take ownership of complex projects, contributing to the design, analysis and testing of cutting-edge optical systems.

You’ll be working at the forefront of technology development, helping to create innovative solutions for scientific and industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test advanced optical systems and components

• Carry out simulation, analysis and performance validation of optical designs

• Support prototype builds and system integration activities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electronic and software engineers

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in optical design processes

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an R&D or product development environment

• Proven experience in optical design and development

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience with optical simulation or analysis tools (e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTools)

Desirable Skills

• Experience in electronics or opto-electronic systems

• Knowledge of scientific instrumentation or precision optics
