System Controls Design Engineer
Location: Maldon, Essex (Onsite)
Salary: £60,000–£62,000
Type: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

My client, an innovative engineering and technology business, is looking for a System Controls Design Engineer to support the development of advanced ultra-low temperature refrigeration systems. This role will focus on control systems design, modelling, and system integration within a collaborative R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities
•    Design and develop control systems for advanced refrigeration technology 
•    Develop PID and advanced control algorithms for temperature regulation and system stability 
•    Build and validate system models using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink 
•    Integrate control systems with sensors, actuators, and refrigeration hardware 
•    Analyse performance data and optimise system efficiency 
•    Support testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement 
•    Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams 
•    Prepare technical documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards 

Requirements
•    Degree in Control Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline 
•    Strong experience in control systems design and system dynamics 
•    Experience with modelling and simulation tools 
•    Knowledge of embedded or industrial control software development 
•    Understanding of sensors, actuators, and system integration 
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
•    Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills
